This past Saturday, five local families gathered together to fundraise for the Flat Rock Animal Shelter. We collected care packages, food, treats, cat litter, and toys for the animals without homes this Holiday Season!!
The entire event was sponsored by Macaroni Kid Downriver and Biggby Coffee of Flat Rock.
The event kicked off with coloring pages and free Magic Milk from Biggby Coffee of Flat Rock.
A reading of Pete the Cat's 12 Groovy Days of Christmas set the tone of the entire event and the kids loved reading "groovy" on each page.
The day ended with craft time, which was my favorite part of the day. Everyone was able to make dog toys for the dogs who don't have homes. The best part was that the kids didn't want to make just one, they wanted to make as many as they could until all of the supplies were gone. I heard stories later about how the children wanted to go home and make more toys for their own dogs.
